Your arrival


When you arrive in Geneva you come to:

8h30 to 5.15 p.m. Saturday

CERN, Reception building no 33, is

closed on Sunday

If you arrive outside opening times and/or Sunday, inform us before you arrive and go to :  

CERN Guard, Entrance gate B, route de Meyrin, 121 Genève 23, Switzerland


The Entrance B is open 24h/24h and there is always a Guard on duty. You will be expected and allowed to enter CERN. See map link

Entrance B is opposite the Globe building just beyond the tram stop. The Guard will give you your hostel key if you are in St. Genis hostel or will direct you to the Reception of the Meyrin hostel (approx. 5 min walk).

CERN is situated about 8 km (5 miles) west of the city of Geneva.



On your first working day at CERN, you should report at 9 a.m. to the Reception desk on the ground floor of building 33, see map link: (link is external)

If you arrive before your first working day and between Monday and Friday, give your name to the hostess at the Reception desk in building 33, otherwise inform the Guard at Entrance B.

They will indicate to you where to go and will tell us you have arrived. You must inform us before arrival if you come outside opening hours and / or Saturday or Sunday.

Access in and out of CERN site is strictly controlled by the site guards. They will have your name but we must announce your arrival, when it is outside normal opening hours.

If your supervisor meets you, then contact us as soon as possible to tell us you have arrived at CERN.
